Frequently Asked Questions
IS THERE DOWNTIME?
None, since this is a simple injection with a tiny needle.
HOW MANY SESSIONS OF SCULPTRA ARE NEEDED FOR OPTIMAL RESULTS?
At minimum, three sessions are necessary for a visible and rewarding transformation. Each session should be spaced about four weeks apart.
WHAT THE PROCEDURE TIME?
Normally around 15 to 20 minutes.
HOW SOON CAN RESULTS BE NOTICED?
Immediately. Sculptra is made out of two components: 1) a gel that will subside in few days and 2) the polylactic particles that will stimulate your own natural collagen remodeling and synthesis. This process will take a few weeks to reveal itself, but the treatment must be repeated every month for a total of three or four sessions.
WHAT OTHER PROCEDURES CAN BE AT THE SAME TIME?
Most of our Sculptra patients receive Botox injections in conjunction with their treatment. Botox is the perfect complimentary treatment. When used together they provide that “liquid face lift” result that so many patients are after. Chemical peels can also be done in an effort to enhance the volumizing that the Sculptra created
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST OR STAY?
How long the results last of course is not only individually variable but is also technique and volume dependant. Our skilled injection staff have seen results lasting in excess of two years.
IS IT PAINFUL?
No, since it contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic, however a slight stinging sensation may be felt at the site of the injection. There is usually no pain afterwards.
WHAT PRODUCTS SHOULD BE USED TO OPTIMIZE RESULTS?
We usually recommend two of our medical grade skin care products AminoLift™ and C-Zone™, since the daily application of polypeptides and ascorbic acid have been shown to improve skin quality and texture.
WHAT TYPE OF POST TREATMENT CARE IS EXPECTED?
All patients are asked to massage the injected area with Hydro boost™ (a skin care supplement we offer that keeps the skin hydrated and smooth) multiple times for the first 48 hours.
IS THERE ANY BRUISING AFTER THE INJECTION?
Any time a needle is used for injection, bruising is always a possibility, but to minimize the risk of bruising we encourage the use of sublingual arnica medication, which helps reduce, even eliminate, post-injection bruising.
WHAT DOES SCULPTRA COST?
Sculptra injections range from $750 to $2000, depending on the amount of sculptra used for treatment.
