How Do I Know When My Breasts Need to be Redone?

Published by Leon Tcheupdjian

When you opt for breast augmentation in Chicago, know that the results won’t last a lifetime. This is only natural and something that comes with the territory of breast implants, but it can be tricky to determine the best time for another surgery while still trying to get the most use out of your current implants. On average, both saline and silicone breast implants last for around 10-20 years, but this number can change if there are complications such as hardening, rippling, a change in position, a rupture, etc.

Here are some tips to help determine when it’s time for an implant replacement.

Changing Shape

When you initially get your breast augmentation in Chicago, you’ll be thrilled with their natural shape. While silicone implants are durable, saline implants have the potential to rupture and slowly deflate, ultimately changing their shape. The only way to restore the original shape is through breast revision.

Each Breast is a Different Size

Your breasts should always be around the same size, especially when you have two implants that are the same size. Over time, you may notice that one breast begins to look uneven, causing a disproportionate, lopsided appearance. Movement, deflation or overall wear and tear can cause one breast to become smaller than the other.

You’re No Longer Happy with Their Size

The number one reason that women choose to get their breast implants redone is simply that they are no longer happy with their size. Whether women initially go too small and want to opt for a larger pair of implants or initially went too big and want to downsize, this is a common reason for revision.
