Preparing for Laser Hair Removal In Naperville

Published by Leon Tcheupdjian

Now that summer is in sight, we’re all excited about the snow melting and the temperatures heating up once again. With warmer weather comes less clothing, meaning now is the ideal time to start preparing for summer activities.

Laser hair removal is a popular treatment in our medical spa in Naperville, and for good reason. This is a relatively painless and easy way to permanently eliminate your hair follicles to enjoy smooth, silky skin all year long.

Start with A Consultation

Everyone has different hair types that play a role in whether or not laser hair removal treatment is ideal. A consultation is a great way for us to better understand the areas you want to address and we’ll be able to answer all of your questions such as the cost of laser hair removal, how many treatment sessions you’ll require, any potential side effects, etc.

Preparing for the Procedure

You’ll need multiple treatment sessions to see the full results, but you’ll prepare for each procedure the same way. Make sure you are freshly showered and the treatment area is free of any lotions, oils, or creams.

Avoid sun exposure leading up to the treatment and avoid tanning beds or other UV treatments for at least 2 weeks before your first appointment.

While you may think you should avoid shaving before your appointment, doing so is beneficial. We recommend shaving at least 24 hours before the appointment for best results, doing so any sooner may result in irritation.

Please note that shaving is the only type of hair removal we recommend completing on your own throughout the laser hair removal process.

Following the Procedure

Redness and swelling are common as a result of laser hair removal. You can use over-the-counter hydrocortisone or aloe vera to reduce irritation. Use SPF 30 to protect your skin from damage. Injections in the treatment area should be avoided for at least 14 days.
