In today’s world, the ability to look good and feel great is often dependent on having a body that is fit and well-proportioned. For some, this may seem like a completely unreachable goal.
In some cases, following an extremely disciplined exercise routine and careful diet isn’t enough to get rid of stubborn deposits of fat. If you want to achieve a body contour that’s better-proportioned and smoother, then liposuction may be a good option.
What is Liposculpture of the Face?
Liposculpture is considered surgery. Its purpose is to remove excess fat deposits in certain areas of a person’s body, neck or face. It can be used for slimming the cheeks while getting rid of double chins. It also provides you with a shapelier neck.
Individuals of all ages can benefit from liposculpture. However, patients who have quality skin elasticity are going to get the best contour once the fat has been removed.
At the Cosmetic Surgery Institute Chicago, liposculpture surgery is followed by Dr. Tcheupdjian’s Body-Ceuticals™ treatments: topical creams and supplements to minimize the effects of cellulite. The active ingredients in our multi-product line of Body-Ceuticals™ will rapidly eliminate swelling, edema and bruising, help the patient recover quickly and smooth the contours of the body.
How is liposculpture performed?
To perform liposculpture, one or more small incisions are made near the area to be suctioned. Whenever possible, incisions are placed within the natural folds or contour lines of the skin so that they are inconspicuous. The surgeon then places a slim, hollow tube called a cannula through the incision so that its tip penetrates the underlying fat. After the cannula is connected by flexible tubing to a suction pump, the surgeon moves the cannula back and forth through the fat, which is vacuumed into the tube.
How is fat transfer performed?
Once the harvesting site is determined (abdomen, hips, thighs), the area is anesthetized. Next, the fat is removed from the area with a tiny cannula, roughly 1-2 millimeters wide. Quite simply, the tissue is immediately injected into the area that needs the improvement. Autologous Fat Transfer is done with local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. No sutures are needed.
