Jeuveau

Jeuveau is the newest injectable neuromodulator, distributed by Evolus, which is due to arrive in Chicago in summer 2019. Jeuveau is a neurotoxin in the same family as Botox, Dysport and Xeomin. This FDA approved injectable cosmetic treatment is indicated for the temporary improvement in the appearance frown (angry) lines, which are the unsightly lines between your eyebrows (and some people know as the “11 lines.”)

What is Jeuveau?

Jeuveau is officially approved by the FDA for the treatment of facial frown lines. This is referred to as “on label” treatment, but like other neuromodulators or toxins available in the market today such as Botox, Dysport and Xeomin, many medical providers treat their patients with “off label” neuromodulator treatments. Some examples of these treatments are as follows:

● Horizontal wrinkles of the forehead
● Wrinkles around the eyes, also known as “crows feet”
● Under eye wrinkles
● Vertical wrinkles around the mouth, also known as “smokers’ lines”
● Neck bands, also known as platysma bands
● Horizontal and vertical wrinkles of the neck
● Wrinkles of the upper chest, also known as the décolletage
● Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) of the armpits, hands, feet and face.
● Improvement of migraine and/or tension headaches
● And while not a measurable scientific effect of the treatment, many patients claim that reduction of facial wrinkles and lines helps improve their self esteem, depressive mood and/or zest in life.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Jeuveau product consist of?

The product is made up of a highly purified prabotulinumtoxin A.

How long will a Jeuveau procedure take?

A normal wrinkle-correction Jeaveau treatment should take anywhere from 10-20 minutes.

How soon can results be noticed after a Jeuveau treatment?

Normally, patients should expect initial results to manifest themselves in two-to-four days, however, full results can take up to two weeks.

How many sessions of Jeuveau are required each year?

On average, most patients will require three treatments per year to maintain the improved appearance of facial lines and wrinkles.

How much downtime is associated with the Jeuveau procedure?

None, this is a non-surgical treatment that will allow patients to return to their everyday activities post-treatment.

How much Jeuveau is needed for each treatment?

We measure the quantity of Jeuveau needed for each treatment in “units.” The number of units needed for each treatment can vary depending on the areas treated. But typically, to treat the frown lines, an average treatment consists of approximately 20 units, dispersed into the frown muscles via three-to-five injection sites.

Is a Jeuveau treatment painful?

Most patients report no discomfort, to only mild discomfort. The sensation is similar to that of a tiny needle prick.

How will the results of a Jeuveau treatment last?

Commonly, results may last three-to-four months, but some patients report results lasting even longer.

Are there any side effects commonly associated with a Jeuveau treatment?

Side effects are rare, but they can include: bruising, mild swelling and mild transient headaches. After thousands of treatments in the past two decades of neuromodulators for wrinkles, we have never observed a single episode of serious allergic reaction that required emergency treatment. That said, possible allergic reaction is noted in the medical literature.

What other procedures can complement a Jeuveau treatment?

Commonly, dermal fillers like Juvederm or Restylane for can complement a Jeuveau treatment. Popular complementary treatments include lip enhancement, correction of smile lines, correction of marionette lines (corners of the mouth), correction of smokers’ lines, and correction of the tear troughs.

Are there any post-treatment conditions to consider after a Jeuveau treatment?

We can’t stress this enough: All patients should avoid avoid contamination by touching injection sites with hands or any makeup for at least 48 hours after treatment. Makeup is an alarming source of bacterial contamination that can cause infection at the injection site.

What other treatments can optimize my Jeuveau results?

We recommend a complimentary skin evaluation with our medical staff and our clinical estheticians. A personalized clinical facial is always a good way to optimize any treatment of the face.

Do you recommend skin care after Jeuveau?

We recommend our reGen cleanser and skin stimulating toner in conjunction with  4Max to enhance the results of any facial rejuvenation procedure.

What does a Jeuveau treatment cost?

Costs vary and depend on many factors, including amount of units required. If you are interested we recommend and provide you a complimentary visit to discuss further what Jeuveau can do for you.
