Laser & Endoscopic Facial Cosmetic Surgery

In today’s fast-paced, competitive society more women and men are looking for help in delaying the natural aging process.

A traditional facelift can smooth creases and wrinkles across the face and tighten sagging skin in the jowls and neck. But contemporary approaches to restoring, refreshing and enhancing the face and body are the signature surgical techniques at the Liposuction and Cosmetic Surgery Institute. State-of-the-art surgical procedures such as Laser and Endoscopic Facial Cosmetic Surgery, when combined with artistic ability, allow for remarkable facial rejuvenation.

It is now possible to perform cosmetic facial procedures through small incisions using a laser and an endoscope. In Laser and Endoscopic Facial Surgery, minimal-access incisions allow for a more rapid healing period, and thus a quicker return to work and social activities. In addition, the results from Laser and Endoscopic Facial Cosmetic Surgery are less detectable and yield greater patient satisfaction.

Significant surgical incisions are unnecessary because endoscopic facelifts, brow lifts and neck lifts can be performed through 1/2-inch slits in the hairline, at the back of the ear and under the chin. The lifting and repositioning of aging skin, muscles, and soft tissues back to a more youthful proportion is gently performed using video-fiber-optic instruments. Areas such as the mid-face, previously inaccessible by traditional surgical techniques, can be easily reached and restored. The degree of facial rejuvenation can be greatly increased, not only because the amount of surgical trauma is greatly minimized, but also because “remote” areas are now accessible. For instance, if the muscles and skin of the mid-face need to be smoothed and tightened, incisions may be hidden in the lower eyelid and in the upper gum line.

Results are distinctly superior with greater acceptance and comfort. Incisions have been drastically minimized, while the benefits have been maximized.

How are laser and endoscopic facial cosmetic surgery performed?

Before the operation begins, your hair will be tied with rubber bands on either side of the incision line. Your head will not be shaved, but hair that is growing directly in front of the incision line may need to be trimmed.

For most patients, coronal incisions will be used. They follow a headphone-like pattern, starting at about ear level and running across the top of the forehead and down the other side of the head. The incisions are usually made well behind the hairline so that the scars won’t be visible. If your hairline is high or receding, the incision may be placed just at the hairline, to avoid adding even more height to the forehead.

Our surgeon will make three, four, or five short scalp incisions, each less than an inch in length. An endoscope, which is a pencil-like camera device connected to a television monitor, is inserted through one of the incisions, allowing the surgeon to have a clear view of the muscles and tissues beneath the skin. Using another instrument inserted through a different incision, the forehead skin is lifted and the muscles and underlying tissues are removed or altered to produce a smoother appearance. The eyebrows may also be lifted and secured into their higher position by sutures beneath the skin’s surface or by temporary fixation screws placed behind the hairline.

The incisions are then closed with stitches or clips. Your face and hair will be washed to prevent irritation, and the rubber bands will be removed from your hair. Although some cosmetic surgeons do not use any dressings, our doctor may choose to cover the incision with gauze padding and wrap the head in an elastic bandage
